RAIN CAPS & DAMPERS
Rain caps are designed to keep wildlife, rain and debris out of your chimney system. If a cap is not installed on your chimney, the chances of having wildlife turn your chimney into their new home greatly increases. Moisture from rain or snow could cause severe structural damages, such as cracked bricks, mold growth, or joint damage, to the interior of your chimney.
A chimney damper is an energy efficient addition to your chimney that also allows a better exhaust flow with a strengthened draft. The draft helps keep the smoke from reentering the home when the fire ignites. The damper creates a seal at the top of the chimney to keep the hot or cool air within the home. In doing so, your ac unit or heater will not have to work as hard because the air will not have an escape through the chimney.
Relines
The relining on the interior walls of your chimney is absolutely essential to channel the heat and gases of the fire. If the liners begin to deteriorate, the heat could cause combustible materials, increasing the chance to catch fire.
